Welcome Visiting Teams!
FYSA is committed to providing a safe and fun experience for all participants – whether home or away! Here’s some information to help make your experience in Franklin more enjoyable.
Where is Franklin anyway?? Franklin is 30 miles southwest of Boston, conveniently located at the intersection of Interstate Route 495 and Route 140. Games are played at various locations in town. Our field location list contains maps and directions to each field.
What can I find at the field? Some fields have bleachers available, but most people bring their good old folding chair. Porta-potties are located at many fields. King Street field has lavatories at the concession stand.
It’s raining! Do we still play?? Soccer is an outdoor game, and in New England that can mean less than ideal weather! Frankly, bad weather is usually worse on the spectators than the kids – the kids are running around and their cleats grab in both wet and dry conditions.
Most Franklin fields have pretty good drainage, and our two artificial turf fields mean we often can play when other clubs have cancelled their games for the day. Should conditions warrant closure, FYSA officials will make this decision as early as possible on game day. Visiting coaches should keep in touch with their Franklin counterpart for the latest information. Cancellations are also posted to the website on game day as soon as they are made available.
Naturally, should field conditions deteriorate or weather conditions become unsafe at anytime, the referee will determine whether the game can be played.
What about shelter? King Street has limited shelter in the concessions area, but most fields are wide open. Coaches may set up canopies on grass fields. Canopies may be used on the artificial turf fields sidelines ONLY if a protective barrier (heavy cardboard, carpet scrap) is used between the canopy leg and the turf.
Is there parking? Most fields have ample parking. FYSA encourages carpooling whenever possible, especially to Fletcher and Meadowlark fields.
Can I bring my dog? No, sorry, the Town of Franklin prohibits dogs on the fields.
I lost my ball/jacket/car keys! LET US KNOW! We try very hard to reunite lost items with their owners. You can help us by putting your name and phone number on everything you bring to the field.
I’m hungry! There is a multitude of places to eat, from fast food to sit-down restaurants. Most located along Rte 140, downtown or King Street locations. Food is allowed at all fields, but please do not leave trash on the field (including orange peels!) NO OPEN FIRES of any kind are allowed at any field.
Who is in charge here? FYSA is staffed by volunteers who wear many hats on game day, coaching their own teams, etc. A club official can usually be found at one of our larger fields for issue of a CRISIS nature. For all other issues, please email us and we will connect you with the appropriate individual.
A note about the referees: FYSA is proud of the fine caliber of referees we employ. All are certified, and continue to receive additional instruction throughout the season. Just as your youngster improves with every game he/she plays, our youth referees are honing their skills with every game they officiate. Please remember this as you sit on the sidelines.
FYSA is serious about our support of the BAYS Zero Tolerance Policy, and expect our visitors to conduct themselves accordingly. Violators – whether home or away – will be asked to leave.
Travel Schedules
Any schedules and fields shown here are for convenience only. We will try to be as accurate as possible, but those posted at the BAYS website and any subsequent local changes are the official schedules.
Please check with your coach if you have any doubts as to the time or location of a game.
Uniform Policy
Franklin Travel players must wear the FYSA navy uniform shirt, solid navy shorts, and solid columbia blue socks as the approved travel player uniform. No other shirts, shorts, or socks are allowed. Missing pieces can be purchased separately at the FYSA Office.
